Below are commonly asked questions about Arc Alarm Clock outside of our standard use guide.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

How quiet is the clock movement?

Arc uses a silent sweeping movement that only makes noise while being set.

How accurate is the clock movement?

±30 seconds per month is typical performance for high-quality quartz timekeeping and is considered precise for standalone quartz clocks.

For comparison, mechanical watches, even very expensive ones like the Rolex Submariner, are typically rated around ±2 minutes per month. Quartz movements are inherently more accurate than mechanical movements, but like all crystal-regulated devices, they are still subject to small variations due to temperature and normal component tolerances. The ±30 seconds per month figure represents the outer tolerance band, not the expected average performance.

Can I have multiple alarms set at once?

No, Arc only enables one alarm at a time.

What happens if the power goes out?

Arc is designed to run on wall power via USB-C and should remain plugged in. If you lose power, Arc is equipped with a 16 hour backup battery to ensure your alarm goes off in the morning. The battery automatically recharges once power is restored.

How long is the chime?

Arc’s gradual alarm increases in intensity over 45 seconds, beginning with slow, quiet chimes. The chime grows louder, faster, and more complex until reaching maximum intensity at 45 seconds. The alarm will repeat 3 times until the snooze or alarm bar is pressed. If the alarm repeats 3 times and no action is taken, the alarm will turn itself off in case you are traveling and forgot to turn it off before leaving.

Where is Arc made?

Arc Alarm is made in China. We understand there are preconceived notions of what it means to manufacture overseas - particularly in China. Quality manufacturing is possible in many countries with proper process control and oversight.

After a combined 15 years of working in hardware, we've built many great professional and personal relationships with our Chinese manufacturers. Each vendor has decades of experience in their specific area of expertise - circuit boards, cast metals, glass etc. We choose these vendors based on their experience and commitment to quality.
